For over 25 years we have helped patients in Sarasota regain smiles they thought they lost forever. We are not a common dental office where you see a general dentist for everything, but rather, a specialized clinic where board-certified prosthodontists, oral surgeons, and periodontists work side by side, coordinating every detail of your care.
This means that when you need an implant, you are not referred to the other side of town, or when your gum disease requires treatment before restoration, there are no weeks of waiting coordinating between offices. Everything happens here, with a team that has known each other for decades and works like a family, because it literally is one.
Treatment depends on the severity of your condition, and for this reason, we always start with the least invasive approach and escalate only when necessary.
Misch Implant & Aesthetic Dentistry was founded in 1999 by Dr. Craig M. Misch and Dr. Katherine E. Misch, both driven by a simple but powerful vision: to offer world-class specialized dental care here in Sarasota, without patients needing to travel to academic centers or coordinate treatments between multiple offices.
Dr. Craig possesses vast experience in oral surgery, implant dentistry, and prosthodontics, having trained at some of the country’s most prestigious institutions. Dr. Katherine, a prosthodontist graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with multiple awards for excellence, brought her passion for restorations that not only function perfectly but look completely natural.
Over the years the practice grew, in size and depth of expertise, and what makes our story unique is that we maintained the same commitment: all specialists under one roof, working together on your case from diagnosis to final result.
In 2015 our daughter, Dr. Maggie Misch-Haring, joined the team as a board-certified periodontist, bringing advanced training in soft tissue surgery and bone regeneration. Soon after came her husband, Dr. Harry Haring, also a prosthodontist, expanding our capacity to handle complex restorative cases.
Today we are literally a family of specialists treating yours.
Most dental offices work like this: your general dentist diagnoses a problem, refers you to a specialist across town, you are treated and sent back. If you need multiple specialists (say, a periodontist, an oral surgeon, and a prosthodontist), you are coordinating between three or four different offices, repeating your history, waiting weeks between appointments, and hoping everyone is on the same page.
If you need an implant and we discover there is gum disease that needs to be treated first, Dr. Maggie is down the hall. If your case requires bone grafting before implant placement, Dr. Craig coordinates with Dr. Katherine to ensure the graft is done with the final restoration in mind. If you need an extraction and immediate implant (“teeth in a day”), our surgical and restorative team has already planned every step together before you even sit in the chair.
There is no miscommunication, no “he said, she said” between offices. There is no waiting weeks for the next phase of treatment, but rather, coordinated care the way it should be.
We operate fundamentally differently. When you come to Misch, you have access to:
All working in the same office, planning your case together, communicating daily.
"We are the practice other dentists call when they need help with their most complex cases."
— Dr. Craig Misch
Our approach to dental care is guided by two principles we never compromise on, no matter the case. Here is what has driven us for over 25 years:
We never extract a tooth that can be saved. We never recommend an implant when a root canal and a crown will work. We have built our reputation over 25 years doing what is right for patients, not pushing treatments because they are more profitable.
If your tooth can be saved, we will say so honestly, even if it means we will not perform surgery. If a traditional bridge makes more sense than an implant bridge in your case, we will explain why. If you do not need bone grafting, we will not invent that you do.
You will never be pressured to make a decision, never hear promises we cannot keep, and also never leave a consultation confused about your options or costs.
We explain your options clearly, detail costs upfront, and give you time to process and decide. If we think you are not a good candidate for a certain treatment, we will say so and explain alternatives.
We are here building relationships that last decades, and many of our patients have been with us for 15, 20 years. We have seen entire families, several generations grow up.
When we place an implant, we are thinking about how it will function 20 years from now. When we design a crown, we are thinking about how your bite will change over time, and when we treat gum disease, we are thinking about long-term maintenance to prevent recurrence.
Long-term care means we are invested in your success far beyond the initial consultation.
Excellence does not happen by chance. Understand the differences that make our clinic a reference in high-complexity dentistry.
General dentists do important work, but there are limits to what they can offer. When you need advanced implant surgery, complex bone regeneration, or high-level prosthodontic restorations, you want specialists who have dedicated additional years of training focusing exclusively on these areas.
Our specialists completed multi-year residencies in elite programs, published research, teach at universities, and are recognized as leaders in their specialties.
We use advanced technology (CBCT 3D, digital scanners, virtual implant planning) because it improves results. However, technology without human skill and clinical judgment is useless.
Our specialists use technology to make better decisions, not to replace their judgment. The digital scanner, for example, captures details that traditional trays miss. CBCT shows anatomy that standard X-rays do not reveal, and virtual planning allows us to rehearse surgeries before making the first incision.
But at the end of the day, it is decades of clinical experience, skilled hands, and meticulous attention to detail that make the difference between a good result and an excellent one.
When you become a patient at Misch, you see the same specialists every time. There is no doctor turnover, no residents learning on your case (unless you are at a university, which we are not).
Dr. Craig, Dr. Katherine, Dr. Maggie, and Dr. Harry know you, know your history, and also your goals, which means you never start from scratch explaining everything again.
We do not participate in insurance networks, which means we have no restrictions imposed by insurers on which treatments we can recommend, how much time we can spend with you, or which materials we can use.
We have the freedom to recommend what is best for you, not what insurance approves most easily. Note that we provide all documentation for you to submit out-of-network claims, and many patients receive partial reimbursement.

“Dr. Misch and his staff genuinely care for each individual. It is because of their work that I am now smiling and confident about how I look. They completely changed my life and made something that I thought would be impossible, possible! I was really nervous about having the bone graft and implants but they made the entire experience wonderful.”
"I had an emergency visit with Dr. Haring, who evaluated and tried to repair my tooth. Unfortunately, the tooth was cracked and needed to be extracted. Dr. Maggie-Misch extracted the tooth for me. From start to finish, the entire staff and doctors were so compassionate and professional with their treatment! I would highly recommend this office."
If you are facing tooth loss, gum disease, failing teeth, or simply want to understand your options to restore your smile, we are here to help.
During your initial consultation, we will evaluate your situation completely, explain all your options honestly, and create a personalized treatment plan. There is no pressure, much less surprises, just an honest conversation about what is happening and how we can help.
